Fair Use Policy

Version 1. In effect from 21 October 2026.

On this page

This policy is part of the Terms for tidy notebook cloud Standard. It explains how service limits affect access. It does not apply to the self-hosted software. There is no charge for use above a limit. The service can refuse or pause an operation as described below.

Storage

Standard is for one person and has 10 GB of storage. Text and note history have a separate limit of 2 GB within that storage. One GB is one billion bytes. The storage count includes saved note data, note history and stored files, including content in Trash. The text count includes stored note data and history, rather than only the visible characters of a note.

A save or upload that would exceed an enforced storage limit is refused. Some space is reserved for safe operation, so a save can be refused before the displayed total reaches the limit. Delete content you no longer need. Moving a note to Trash alone does not release its storage. Stored files can wait for background cleanup before their space becomes available.

Monthly transfer

Each account has 10 GB of published page transfer and 20 GB of downloads each calendar month. Both periods start again at the start of the next calendar month in UTC.

Published page transfer counts response data sent by the server for your published links, including their images. Download use counts signed-in server responses. This includes exports, images, full sync and other API responses. The service counts response body bytes after compression where compression applies. It does not count only the size of files you download.

When a published transfer count reaches its limit, the published links close until the next month. When a download count reaches its limit, exports, file downloads and full sync pause until the next month. Small API responses and sync changes can continue, so ordinary application use can continue. These responses still add to the download count.

Counts are collected across server processes. A limit check can take time to see recent use. A response already in progress can finish after the limit is reached. These limits are access controls, not a promise of an exact byte cutoff.

Shared service limits

The service also has monthly limits for total published transfer, downloads, object reads and object writes. These limits apply across accounts. An unused account allowance does not prevent a shared limit from pausing a feature.

A shared published transfer limit can close all published links. A shared download limit can pause exports, file downloads and full sync. A shared object read limit can pause file downloads and leave published pages without images. A shared object write limit can pause uploads and imports. The affected features open again in the next calendar month in UTC.

Safe use and help

Do not avoid a limit with extra accounts or make the service unavailable for others. The Terms explain prohibited use and account action. Contact support@tidynotebook.com if a limit prevents you from getting your notes. We do not promise an automatic override.
